Known as the “Yosemite of South America,” Cochamó Valley is home to towering granite walls rising over 1,000 meters, splitter cracks, slabs, and world-class multi-pitch climbing.
Located in Northern Patagonia, this expedition offers a rare combination of wilderness access, long granite routes, native forests, pristine rivers, and authentic climbing culture. Days are spent moving on beautiful granite; evenings are quiet and simple at basecamp beneath massive walls.
This program is designed for climbers seeking progression on inspiring terrain while experiencing one of South America’s most iconic climbing destinations.



Trip Details
Day 1 — Meeting and Briefing in Puerto Varas
- Meeting in Puerto Varas
- Equipment check
- Program briefing and overview of the week in Cochamó
- Final preparation before entering the valley
Day 2 — Trek into Cochamó Valley
Distance: approximately 13 km
- Early departure from Puerto Varas
- 2-hour drive to Cochamó
- 4–6 hour forest approach hike into the valley
- Establish basecamp in the La Junta sector
- Gear organization and route planning
- Possible short climb on Apnea, 2 pitches, depending on timing and conditions
Day 3 — La Junta Sector
- Camp Farm Route — 6b, 300 m
- 45-minute approach
- Crack climbing workshop
- Mobile protection and anchor refinement
- Return to basecamp
Day 4 — Cerro Trinidad
- E.Z. Does It Route — 6b+, 450 m
- 2.5-hour approach
- Long classic route, weather dependent
- Big wall rope systems practice
- Descent and recovery at camp
Day 5 — Anfiteatro Valley
- El Filo Route — 6b, 350 m or Excelente Mi Teniente — 6c, 490 m
- 2.5-hour approach
- Full-day climbing on the selected objective
- Technical focus based on participant goals
- Return to camp and enjoy the river
Day 6 — Exit from the Valley
Distance: approximately 13 km
- Trek out of Cochamó Valley
- Return to the hotel in Puerto Varas

Requirements
Participants should have:
- Previous climbing experience, with a minimum level of 5.10- / 6a
- Experience belaying on multi-pitch routes
- Basic knowledge of rope systems and climbing safety
- Good physical endurance for long approaches and sustained climbing days
- Motivation to spend several days in a remote mountain environment
Additional Notes
- Weather in Cochamó can change quickly; flexibility is essential.
- The final climbing objectives will be chosen according to weather, route conditions, and participants’ level.
- At basecamp, you will be part of the team and share daily life with your guide. Everyone contributes to camp life by helping with tasks such as cooking, washing dishes, and keeping the camp organized.
- A full packing and equipment list will be provided after booking.
- Possibility to extend the program with additional days.
Equipment
Participants must bring:
- Personal climbing gear: comfortable climbing shoes, harness, helmet, 2 locking carabiners, and one 120 cm sling
- Climbing clothing, including warm layers and a waterproof jacket
- Trekking gear
- Camping gear, including a sleeping bag
A detailed equipment and packing list will be provided upon confirmation of your booking.
Payment Conditions
A 50% deposit is required to secure your booking. The remaining balance must be paid 60 days before departure. Deposits are non-refundable and services are only confirmed once full payment has been received.

Cancellation
Client cancellations more than 60 days before departure are eligible for an 80% refund. Cancellations within 60 days are non-refundable. Weather, safety, or force majeure events do not generate refunds, but alternative programs may be offered.
